Dan King Sr. started the Dan King Plumbing Company in 1971. It was a one-man, one-truck operation, and Dan served the Charlotte area, making repairs and small up-fits. For years, he was known by his motto: “Not the Oldest, but the Best”.

In 1985, Dan King Jr. obtained his mechanical license and joined his father bringing by HVAC into the small family business. Dan Jr. focused on residential replacement and service. Over the next 10 years, the company, now known as One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating of Charlotte, would grow from a one-man company to an HVAC company with 20 employees. During this same period, a commercial and construction plumbing department was added to the operation. Sadly, Dan Sr. passed away during this period of growth and was never able to see the accomplishments and hard work that Dan Jr. put into the company. Dan Jr., with his marketing creativeness, made Dan King Plumbing, Heating, and A/C a very well-known, household name in the Charlotte area.
